The Pettis County Relay For Life has combined with the Johnson County Relay For Life this Year, with the 12-hour event being held inside at Smith-Cotton Gymnasium, 2010 Tiger Pride Blvd., in Sedalia.

The annual event will kick off at 12 p.m. Saturday and will continue until midnight.

To date, the Relay has 29 teams with 304 participants, raising $39,310.68 for the American Cancer Society as of Friday morning.

According to the Relay's website, the top teams thus far are Xi Beta Upsilon ($5,001.13), Cancer Busters ($4,061.58) and La Monte Christian Church ($2,610.50).

The top participants thus far are Cynthia Dick ($3,122), Kay Sparks ($1,000) and Mike Stratton ($1,000).

The top company listed was Wal-Mart NCTP ($1,000).

The event was originally scheduled to be held outside at Tiger Stadium, but organizers moved the event indoors due to the extreme heat predicted for Saturday.
