Queen of the Prairies Festival Packs Downtown Sedalia

The Queen of the Prairies Festival in Downtown Sedalia was packed full of booths, stages, and people.  The second year of this event seemed to bring out more vendors, who showed off not only their art, but glassware and sewing just to name a few.

Kids had the opportunity to get their faces painted, create a cookie, paint and do chalk art.  Many made their rounds and sat at the Pettis County Courthouse as professional chalk artist Craig Thomas created two people riding a Harley in front of the steps.  He had said that he was working on it since 7 a.m. and would not finish until later in the afternoon before the Harley Owners Group had their parade around 6 p.m.

There was also a classic car display and the chance to have a carriage ride around Downtown Sedalia.

In addition to all this, history came alive as you could play a game of celebrity bingo and talk with some actors portraying Sedalia’s founders.  You could hear planes and helicopters fly over from the Fly-In at the Sedalia Regional Airport during the festival.

The weather brought many families to enjoy the event and many said they can’t wait til next year.
