We have had some light rain and sleet through the day in the area and it's expected to go through the overnight, according to the National Weather Service. The Pettis County Sheriff's Office wants you to be careful if you travel this evening or in the night.

A complex weather forecast exists for today/tonight as moisture surges northward and clashes with a cold front dropping from the northwest. Areas along and south of I-70 may see rain this afternoon, which will transition to sleet and/or light snow this evening.
As seen last weekend, any liquid left on the ground tonight will quickly freeze over as temperatures drop into the teens, creating black ice issues potentially into the Monday morning commute. Should this occur, very dangerous driving conditions will result.
The Pettis County Sheriff's Office urges you to remain alert to rapidly changing weather conditions, and use extreme caution while driving.
