Pettis County Sheriff's Deputies were involved in a short vehicle pursuit on November 27 that led to the arrest of an Illinois man.

According to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office, deputies attempted to stop a 1988 Ford Mustang for running a stop sign in the area of Warren Avenue and 16th Street. The Mustang reportedly traveled south on Warren Avenue at a high rate of speed, and was finally stopped when the vehicle became disabled on 18th Street.

Deputies arrested Samuel Phillip Van Horn of Gibson, Illinois and are requesting charges of:

  • Felony Driving While Revoked/Suspended
  • Felony Resisting Arrest
  • Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign
  • Careless and Imprudent Driving
  • Driving While Intoxicated

The Pettis County Sheriff's Office says that the suspect also had a warrant for his arrest out of Boone County for a traffic offense.
