At 11:59 p.m. this evening (Sept. 30), APSI will stop their services for Pettis County, and the Pettis County Ambulance District will officially begin operations at midnight. Four new ambulances were brought in on Sept. 19 and will be centered at the Volunteer Fire Department at the Missouri State Fairgrounds.

District Administrator Michael Gardner says he is ready for this transition and believes it will be a smooth one.

“We're ready, everybody here is ready,” Gardner said. “I've heard a lot of great comments and there are a lot of people who have been waiting many many years for this to happen, we're ready.”

Gardner says he is excited for tonight and plans to be working through the night “I don't think I could go home and go to bed," he said. "There are a lot of new employees that want to be here for this historic moment, and I wouldn't miss it for the world.”
