A one-year-old child was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred in Cole County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on Route M, about 300 feet east of Massarosa Lane around 6:30 Monday morning. According to the report, an eastbound 2004 Chevy Tahoe driven by Beth L. Mandry, 29, Holts Summit, traveled off the right side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2015 Mercedes ML400 driven by 51-year-old Sharon M. Twehous of Jefferson City.

Mandry's one-year-old daughter, Brailyn Baugher, Holts Summit, was pronounced dead at the scene by Cole County Sgt. Todd Marsey. Mandry and her other infant daughter Makayla Hayes, Holts Summit, suffered serious injuries and were transported to University Hospital in Columbia.

Twehous suffered moderate injuries in the accident and was transported to SSM Health in Jeff City.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.

A total of five troopers were on scene, including two crash scene investigators.
