Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe announced today that the Fair will celebrate the 58th Farm Bureau/Farm Family Day on Monday, Aug. 15. Farm families were nominated by MU Extension and Missouri Farm Bureau, to represent all 114 counties in Missouri. Farm Family Day is sponsored and supported by Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Department of Agriculture, Missouri State Fair, University of Missouri Extension and the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.

“These families deserve to be celebrated for their involvement in and contribution to Missouri agriculture,” Wolfe said. “The Fair is the premier agriculture showcase in the state and is certainly the ideal venue to honor these families.”

On Aug. 15, Farm Families will be recognized at a dinner in their honor at the Director’s Tent. Additionally, the family names and their respective counties will be on display at an exhibit west of the Historic Administration Building. This exhibit is sponsored by the University of Missouri Extension.

Wolfe also said that gate admission coupons for Farm Family Day are available for the public at County Farm Bureau offices. These coupons are good for $1 off adult gate admission and are valid Aug. 15 only. Coupons are redeemable at gate admission ticket booths. County Farm Bureau offices will also offer coupons for carnival and truck and tractor pull discounts.

The Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pulling Association will be hosting a truck and tractor pull Monday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. All-day tickets are available for purchase at the State Fair Box Office or online at ticketmaster.com. Tickets for adults are $25, kids ages 6-12 are $12, and kids 5 and under are free.

Other daily highlights for Aug. 15 include the 4-H Dog Show in the Mathewson Exhibition Center starting at 9 a.m. and the Rooster Crowing Contest Finals at 2 p.m. in the Poultry Building.

A full schedule of daily events and free entertainment is available on the Missouri State Fair website or at any of the information booths during the Fair.
