Mid-Missouri Outlaws Fall To Bloomington Edge

Mid-Missouri Outlaws

The Mid-Missouri Outlaws went on the road to take on the Bloomington Edge on Friday night (Mar. 22).  The Outlaws were looking to capitalize on the momentum they had from forcing overtime against the Lincoln Haymakers in the first game. Instead, this game was an offensive struggle and the defense kept the Outlaws in the game for most of the first half, before Bloomington took the game over.

Both the Outlaws and Edge were unable to convert very many first downs and Derek Doerfler of the Outlaws had the first points of the game with 1:57 left in the first quarter with a 45-yard field goal. It would be the only time the Outlaws led, as the Edge responded with a touchdown drive and a two-point conversion. It would be 8-3, and the Edge would not look back. The Edge led 18-3 at the half, 32-3 at the end of the 3rd quarter and ended the game winning 54-3.

The Outlaws will need to find some answers after Kyle Middleton was 20 for 39 passing with 156 yards through the air and was intercepted three times. The rushing game was stopped pretty well by the Edge defensive line, Charles McDonald had 12 yards rushing, Marcus James had five, and Ken Davis had four. The team ended up in the hole with -13 yard total rushing with the sacks.

The Bloomington Edge had 120 yards passing and 57 yards rushing. Several of their scores were on interceptions, returns and helped by penalties.

The Outlaws have started off the season 0-2 and will take on the Salina Bombers who were idle this weekend and are 0-1 on the season. Kaleb Filis will travel with the team and bring you the play-by-play Saturday, Mar. 30 at 7:05 p.m. on 92.3 BOB-FM and online.
