Mauk No Longer Quarterback With Mizzou
You heard the news last week. Matty Mauk had been reinstated as quarterback for the Missouri Tigers after a four-games suspension. Now he has been suspended again from the team for disciplinary reasons.
According to Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Mauk isn't dismissed from the program entirely, and the coaching staff could re-evaluate his status once the season is over.
Freshman Quarterback Drew Lock stepped in during the games missed by Mauk. Lock, a Lee's Summit native, has struggled in the role. The freshman has thrown for 538 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the last four weeks, with Missouri failing to register a touchdown since its 24-10 win over the Gamecocks on Oct. 3.
With Mauk out for the the rest of the season, Coach Gary Pinkel is hoping for his freshman to make a little more progress and possibly so Mizzou can get into a position to be come bowl-eligible.
