Sedalia by Becky Imhauser is a new book in the Images of Modern America series published by Arcadia Publishing. Sedalia will be released on December 12.

"We were honored that Sedalia was chosen for another one of their series. This is actually the third Sedalia book that I have done for an Arcadia series," said Imhauser. Sedalia features 160 local photos spanning several decades. "It focuses on Sedalia from 1950 to present."

Imhauser says that locals will recognize many of the modern locations pictured in the photos. "There are things that are still in town, there are things that haven't been gone that long that we can remember, so that makes it fun. It's easier to connect with history when it's something you've experienced."

In addition to 160 photos, the book also contains stories and background information on local sites, businesses and landmarks.

The photographs used in Sedalia come primarily from local people that have shared their images with Imhauser. "I've been writing books for several years, and have had the privilege of speaking with so many families about their histories, and it's been exciting when they're willing to share...eager to share. With Facebook and social media I sometimes get messages, but I do have a personal collection amassed through eBay and antique shops."

Sedalia will be available at several local businesses, including the Katy Depot, Nostalgia Vintage Apparel and Marketplace, Sword's Family Pharmacy, Reader's World and Walgreen's. The book will also be available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
