Lauren Alaina has released the music video for her latest, empowering single, "Road Less Traveled." The song's powerful message encourages young women to take a step away from the mirror and decide for themselves what beauty looks like, and its accompanying video furthers that message in a personal, heartfelt way.

The music video for "Road Less Traveled" was directed by Chris Hickey and brings Alaina's own journey toward self-acceptance to life. In the clip, the singer revisits different versions of her younger self struggling with societal- and self-imposed expectations of perfection, from childhood days of exploring makeup to adolescent years of trying to look like magazine models to her experience as a young singer being publicly judged for her weight. The "Road Less Traveled" video ends ends on a triumphant note, though, as present-day Alaina encourages those younger incarnations of herself -- and with the help of some colorful powder, the anthemic video even ends in celebration.

With Meghan Trainor and Jesse Frasure, Alaina penned "Road Less Traveled" as a note of encouragement, to herself as much as to listeners. After years spent living with the expectations of beauty that come with being a public figure, Alaina opened up about her struggle with bulimia in May; in many ways, "Road Less Traveled" is a triumphant anthem, with the singer proclaiming victory over a disease that almost ended her career.

Alaina is currently on the road with Alan Jackson for his 25th anniversary Still Keepin’ It Country Tour. She's also about to bring her song to life on the silver screen with the upcoming move Road Less Traveled, in which she will star.
