A 14-year old LaMonte resident was flown to a Kansas City hospital, following a traffic accident on I-70 Saturday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident around 7:30, on I-70, near the 66.6 mile marker in Saline County.

According to the online crash report, a westbound 2002 Chevy Trailblazer failed to yield to a 2016 Kenworth, while attempting to merge onto I-70. The Chevy overturned and came to rest, blocking the left traffic lane. The Kenworth traveled into the median and struck the guard cables. A towed unit then became unattached and turned over.

A passenger in the Chevy, 14-year old Dylan Brazton, of LaMonte, suffered moderate injuries in the accident. He was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital, by Lifeflight Air Ambulance, for treatment. The driver of the Chevy, 20-year old Megan E. Braxton, was not injured, according to the online report.

The crash report also indicates that the driver of the Kenworth, 46-year old Fasil B. Tiku, of Mountlake Terrace, WA, was not injured.
