The Smith-Cotton girls tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat Tuesday to Marshall.
The Lady Tigers (5-4) got their sole win from No. 3 singles player Allison Burton. The JV also lost to the Owls, 8-2. Winners for S-C were the doubles teams of Valentyna Usyk and Jessica Kotok, and Elissa Petrashishna and Vanessa Valesa.
The Smith-Cotton Junior High eighth grade football team played right with the Odessa through halftime, but the Bulldogs took advantage of Tigers' turnovers to claim a 40-6 win Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.

S-C trailed 14-6 at the half, with its score coming from Chase McMullin. Quarterback Gunnar Zaremba nearly added another score as time expired, but he was tackled inside the one-yard line.
The Smith-Cotton softball team got into a hole early and couldn't dig its way back out, losing 15-5 on the road Tuesday at Eldon.

Lady Tigers pitcher Sarah Bergman gave up seven runs on just five hits, with damage coming from a pair of errors. Breana Hoover came on in relief in the second inning.
Leading S-C on offense was Ashley Grotzinger, who had a pair of singles.

The Lady Tigers JV squad won, 5-4.
