KNOB NOSTER, MO (October 22, 2013) – Knob Noster R-VIII School District will hold a dedication ceremony to formally announce and celebrate the signing of a new lease with the U.S. Air Force for the Whiteman Elementary school building located on Whiteman Air Force Base.

The signing of the new lease, which extends the school’s use of the building through 2041, signifies a continued commitment by the Air Force to work with Knob Noster School District. As part of this partnership, the school district has upgraded Whiteman Elementary School with new heating and cooling systems, and improvements to lighting and roofing. Plans are in place for additional renovations next summer to improve security within the school.

The dedication ceremony, which will include a ribbon cutting and the installation of a school plaque, will be held from 5:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Whiteman Elementary school, Building 3015 Houx Drive.

“The relationship between Whiteman Air Force Base and the Knob Noster School District is intertwined with trust and respect,” Knob Noster School District Superintendent Jaret Tomlinson said. “While the citizens of our community acknowledge the dedication and service of our military, the military in turn provides us with exemplary support and partnership in creating the best school district in the area.”

The dedication ceremony will provide the public with the opportunity to hear about the recent upgrades to the facility and preview the construction plans slated for the summer of 2014.
