One Saturday Sept.14, the Sedalia Kiwanis Club will sponsor a child seat safety event.

When I was a kid, I remember standing up in the front seat of the car and explaining to my mom that I couldn't sit down, because I was from Mars.  Aliens don't need seat belts, you see.  She, um, did not take that lightly.

I sat down, and quickly. That's the kind of parental love that manifests itself to protect children.  It's just something you do as a parent.  Sometimes things move differently than they did when we were kids.  I have to admit, there are a lot of developments in safety these days.  It is important, or your kids might get bumped on the head too many times and turn out like me.

I had Dave Kelley in with the Sedalia Kiwanis who told us about a great event going on to make sure your kids are safe in the car.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the front parking lot of the main branch of Third National Bank located at 301 West Broadway. Car seat specialists with the Sedalia Police Department, the Sedalia Fire Department and the Pettis County Health Center will help parents correctly install child car safety For more information, contact Dave Kelley at 660-826-8218.

Safely yours,

Behka
