Okay, the snow in May was enough.  I've never hunted turkeys in snow like that.  What fun it was, 33 degree cold, wet, windy and on the last week of turkey season.  One good thing about the weather is that it seems to be getting better and starting to get back to normal.  Of course, this is Missouri, so you will have to "Show-Me."

Speaking of "Show-Me," the Show-Me Honor Flight Radiothon is just around the corner, and what better way to say thanks to our WWII, Korean and Vietnam War veterans by donating and sending them to their memorials in Washington D.C.  So please, listen for more info on the show next week.

Now on to fishing news.  The MoKids and Stephanie Lewisell are hosting Fishing for a Cure at Liberty Park this Saturday (May 11) from 10:00 to 2:00.  It's going to be awesome.  We'll have rods to use from the conservation department, but if you have your own, I would bring it.  We'll have hot dogs for bait, so if you'd like to use worms, bring your own.  The Relay for Life team will be serving lunch for a small donation with all funds going to their Relay team.  Al and Marcia Cox from Eagle Claw will be there along with Eric from Rusty Toad Archery, having archery for the kids like they did last year.  We'll have a prize wheel, and KIX 105 and 92.3 BOB-FM will be broadcasting live.  Also, we'll be having a special drawing for moms (Mother's Day is Sunday, so if didn't remember, I just saved you).  All moms will be registered to win a Mother's Day package in memory of my mother, Sharon Schmidt.  So kids, bring your mom for a day of fishin', shootin' bows, playing and the chance to win a package from the Hair Salon and Spa of Sedalia and another from Stone Laser Imaging.  We may have some veterans from the VA home in Warrensburg come out, so let's hope they can make it.

Finally, I want you to send your fishing stories to me.  We'll start reading them in June, and we'll have a monthly drawing for a new rod and reel.

So come out this Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m.  I'll catch you there!
