In her 40 years of life, before her death on March 4, 2016, at the age of 40, Joey Feek lived. The Joey + Rory singer left behind an immense legacy.

Joey and Rory Feek first rose to prominence 2008, as contestants on CMT’s Can You Duet. In the eight years between then and Joey Feek's death, the husband and wife released seven studio albums, were nominated for numerous awards, earned themselves a legion of fans, grew their family … and faced pain and heartache with incredible courage.

In June of 2014, Joey Feek was diagnosed with Stage IV cervical cancer. One year later, the Feeks shared that her cancer had returned — but, this time around, despite surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, the singer was not getting better; that October, her cancer was declared terminal. Even though she was facing death -- or perhaps because of it -- Joey Feek proved her strength, faith and bravery to the world throughout her final months of life; her husband Rory Feek did, too.

“In the time that God gave her … I believe Joey [gave] all she could give. [She] loved all she could love, and lived all she could live,” Rory Feek writes. “... I know she’s done Him and all of us proud … in the time that He gave her.”
