‘Jingle on the Green’ is December 1 at State Fair Community College

The ninth annual "Jingle on the Green" holiday celebration at State Fair Community College will be from 6-8 p.m. December 1 on the Sedalia campus.

"That is a free community Christmas celebration," said Dana Page with State Fair Community College. "All the buildings have big, fancy, decorated Christmas trees, and food that goes along with the theme of the trees. In each building is some kind of musical entertainment. We have schools like Marshall High School, Lincoln, Odessa, plus our own Jazz Runners will be there performing."

Jingle on the Green will feature thousands of luminarias, musical performances, art-making in the Daum Museum, decorations, and desserts. New this year, the SFCC Theatre Arts program will present three short, one-act holiday comedies at 8 p.m. in the Thompson O’Sullivan Studio Theatre in the Yeater Learning Center.

The public is invited to stroll the campus and participate in the holiday-themed activities. "It's a great event," said Page. "It's something that everybody ought to see."

The stations and music scheduled at this time include:

• Parkhurst Student Commons, “Spirit of Blue”—6 p.m., SFCC President Dr. Joanna Anderson will give a brief holiday welcome. Performances will include the SFCC Jazz Runners at 6:10 p.m., the Marshall High School Jazz Band at 7 p.m. and the Smith-Cotton High School Jazz Band at 7:30 p.m.

• Daum Museum of Contemporary Art foyer, “Deck the Hall”—6-8 p.m., free art-making for anyone will take place in front of the Goddard Gallery in Stauffacher Center.

• Yeater Learning Center lobby, “Holly Jolly Christmas”—Performances will include the Sacred Heart School Choir at 6 p.m. and the SFCC Chamber Choir at 7:30 p.m.

• Thompson O’Sullivan Studio Theatre, Yeater 126, “Coastal Christmas”—At 8 p.m. the SFCC Theatre Arts program will present three one-act comedies by Don Zolidis directed by Taylor Hudson, a 2012 SFCC alumnus, and Kacy Barta[DU2] , a 2013 SFCC alumna. The performance will last about one hour and is rated PG; admission is free.

• Sylvia L. Thompson Atrium in the Heckart Science and Allied Health Center, “Silver and Gold”—Performances will include the Odessa High School Chamber Choir at 6:15 p.m., the Boonville High School Chamber Choir at 6:45 p.m. and the Show Me Sound Chorus at 7:15 p.m.

• Fielding Technical Center west entrance area, “Sparkle. Glitter. Shine”—Performances will be in the Gerken Solarium, just down the Benefactors Hall of Honor from the Fielding entrance. Those include the Lincoln High School Choir at 6:30 p.m. and the SFCC Jazz Choir at 7 p.m.

• Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center, “Merri-Mint!”—Santa and his elves, Ginger and Gumdrop, will be in the Davis Center from 6:15-8 p.m. to visit with children.

The SFCC Campus Store inside the Parkhurst Student Commons will collect mittens and hats of any size and donate them to local charities in observance of National Mitten Tree Day. Anyone who donates will receive a discount of up to 50 percent off any purchase. The store will be open until 8 p.m.
