Jason Aldean has just released the details of his eighth studio album, Rearview Town, and now he's letting fans hear the title song.

Kelley Lovelace, Bobby Pinson and Neil Thrasher co-wrote "Rearview Town," and while it features the kind of contemporary arrangement that Aldean helped to champion at country radio, he says the song is a step in a more mature direction compared to some of his past good-time anthems and blue-collar odes.

The atmospheric first verse frames a story that's familiar to anyone who's ever left the small town they grew up in, searching for bigger dreams.

Jason Aldean Announces a Duet With Miranda Lambert

"I stuck my middle finger up in the sky / Flipped off that "Ya'll come back" sign / Looked in the mirror one last time / And watched it disappear," he sings.

The protagonist of the song watches that old town fade along with a future that once might have looked brighter as Aldean sings the chorus: "It ain't nothing but a rearview town / Broken hearts and rusted plows / Roots ripped right up out of the ground / Never thought I'd ever leave it / It ain't nothin' what it used to be / Population minus me / On the other side of that dust cloud / Ain't nothin' but a rearview town."

"It’s about putting things behind you...things that have held you down...and looking ahead,” he says in a press release. "When you look at my career and the personal experiences I’ve gone through, it really seemed like a fitting title for this record and it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever recorded. It was important to me to pick songs that have substance to them, I’m more conscious of that these days."

"You Make It Easy" is the first single from Rearview Town, which is set for release on April 13. The album also features a collaboration with Miranda Lambert titled "Drowns the Whiskey." Fans who pre-order Rearview Town will receive the title song as an instant grat download.

Aldean will hit the road in 2018 for his High Noon Neon Tour, which features Lauren Alaina and Luke Combs as his support acts. Darius Rucker is reuniting Hootie & the Blowfish for one night only to open the show in Atlanta.

Aldean is also headlining at WE Fest in 2018 alongside Carrie Underwood and Florida Georgia Line. WE Fest runs from Aug. 2-4 at Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
