Henry County Sheriff’s Office Has A Touching Response To The Lip Sync Challenge

I'm sure you've seen these all over social media. 

They're popping up all over the country.  It's called the Lip Sync Challenge, and what happens is law enforcement lip sync to a popular song.  Sometimes they do little dances or  a cute routine.  Other times it's an interaction with the community.  Pettis County hasn't done one yet, but Henry County decided to take a shot at it - in a very serious, respectful way.

Okay, so they're not dancing and it's a ballad instead of a pop hit.  But they rose to the challenge and did it their way.

I'm sure doing these things must not be easy.  I mean, you're danged if you do and danged if you don't, right?  If you do it, people will say things like, "Oh, I'm so glad they're doing stuff like this instead of fighting crime" or "This is what my tax dollars are paying for?"  If they don't do it, people will get upset that the police aren't listening to their community or that they have sticks up their butts.

I say, it's great.  I'm sure these officers worked really hard on this video, to spread awareness of a serious issue while attempting to connect to the people watching the video.  Sure, they didn't dance, but that's okay by me. Way to go, Clinton.  You guys did a good job.

Now.... can we get Sedalia Police to do one?  Maybe Pettis County Sheriff?  If they do it, though, I hope they Lee Ann Womack* the hell out of it.

*In case you forgot, Lee Ann Womack did a song called "I Hope You Dance" in 2000.  I'm all about the timely, hip references.  They don't have to do that song.  I just want a little boogie down time in their video.
