SEDALIA—Hoops and hijinks will come to State Fair Community College Sept. 21 when the Harlem Ambassadors take on the SFCC Slammers in a comedy basketball show at 6 p.m. in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus.
Tickets are available now online at www.brownpapertickets.com and in the Davis Center office. Tickets are $12 for reserved stadium seats; $10 for general admission; and $8 general admission for youth ages 5-18, SFCC students with BLUECARDS and anyone 60 or older. General admission for children under age 5 is free.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the SFCC Athletics Program’s basketball teams and Spirit Squad.
The Harlem Ambassadors offer a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball, featuring high-flying slam-dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks, hilarious comedy routines, music, dancing, and games for kids.
“At our shows, we want the kids to know they’re part of our team, too,” said Harlem Ambassadors Coach Ladé Majic. “We invite as many kids as we can to come sit on the bench, have a front-row seat during the show and get involved in all the fun stuff we do.”
The SFCC Slammers team will include community and college players, said Dana Page, Davis Center coordinator and Spirit Squad coach.
“We have combed the region for skilled and entertaining players to take on the powerful Ambassadors,” she said. “Come to the game and cheer on our enthusiastic local talent!”
The SFCC Slammers team includes Doug Allen, KSIS Radio; Dr. Joanna Anderson, SFCC president; Dr. Brent Bates, SFCC vice president for Educational and Student Support Services; Kevin Bond, Pettis County sheriff; Rick Grunden, Cole Camp High School girls basketball coach; Xavier Jackson, AT&T; Taylor Johnson, SFCC dance coach and former SFCC cheerleader; Matt Mergen, State Farm Insurance; Steven Vandevender, Smith-Cotton High School girls basketball coach; Larry Ward, Sedalia Police Department; and Kyle Weymuth, W-K Chevrolet and former SFCC athlete. Other team members may be added.
