Smith-Cotton DECA and Axis Salon and Spa is hosting 'Back 2 School Cuts 4 Kids' Monday. August 20,  from 12 noon - 6 p.m. at Axis Salon and Spa, 2406 South Limit, in Sedalia, MO. The free haircuts for kids (Ages 5-18) are for those headed back to school.

According to the Smith-Cotton Senior, Reagan Braverman, the idea came to her as she was working at Bothwell Regional Hospital. A TV commercial about an event in Kansas City came on and was advertising free haircuts and the light came on as she thought to herself, "Why don't we do this for kids going back to school in our area."

She contacted fellow Smith-Cotton student and friend, McKenna Perusich, about the idea. They contacted their DECA faculty sponsor, Angie Howard, and submitted their idea and then hit the ground running.

According to Howard, DECA is know for service projects and community orientation as they bring businesses into the classrooms. This project will most likely be used for district competition along with other other DECA projects in February.
