Good Ol’ Days
I went home for lunch and ate leftovers. WHAT??? You actually went home for lunch and ate what was cooked from yesterday, the day before, or last week?!?! Are you crazy??? I think this is the difference between "My Generation" and today's young adults and kids. Back then we ate at home and didn't get most of our meals through the drive-thru. Here's the big difference from growing up in the 60's and early 70's and today-There were far fewer foods available. There was not a fast-food restaurant on every street corner. If you had a McDonald's in your town, the menu consisted of about six items. McDonald’s opened at about 10:30 or 11 a.m. There was no fast-food breakfast. I remember when I was introduced to Taco flavored Doritos. (Besides plain that was the only flavor of the chip) I think it was about 1968/69. A TV dinner was a treat for a kid. We had "Sunday Dinner" at my Grandma's house it usually consisted of a chicken or two that she had caught and killed herself either that morning or the day before along with mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, homemade hot rolls, and a couple of pies fresh from the oven. We always talk about the good ol' days. I have my days of relishing them and other days appreciating today's technology. Nuke that meatloaf for another 30 seconds or so, will ya? Oh yeah, hand me the remote, too!
