Karen Garrison wanted mulch for Mother’s Day. She got Garth Brooks.

The singer returned to Good Morning America on Friday to ring in Mother’s Day, and to surprise special fans. Garrison was nominated by her daughter, Brook. She also has a son named Garth, and that’s not a coincidence. The Darlington, Wisc. hair salon owner owns two copies of each Brooks album — you know, in case one goes bad.

Garrison didn’t know what was going to happen when her daughter told her why she’d been nominated for the show’s Mother’s Day Surprise contest. “This was an ultimate thank you from us kids, but also the people that you’ve also become a second mother to,” she said. “You take care of everyone, and it’s a big thank you from us.”

Outside, the mother of three (including son Markus) is talking to a GMA reporter when Brooks comes from around the house to surprise her. He wraps his arms around her from behind, and then the tears really start flowing.

The gift didn't end there. Tonight you'll find the family in the audience in Omaha, Neb. watching Garth and Trisha Yearwood live. The singer is flying them there in his private jet.
