Delivery of recycling and garbage carts recently began in Sedalia.

A press release from the City of Sedalia indicates that distribution began on Monday (Sept. 17).

The City says the delivery of more than 14,400 carts is expected to be completed by September 28.

Each household will be provided with a 95 or 65-gallon gray cart for garbage and one 95 or 65-gallon blue cart for recyclables. To keep garbage and recycling fees as low as
possible, the City is encouraging everyone to recycle.

If you have City garbage and recycling collection and have not received your carts by Sept. 28, 2018, call the Public Works Department at 851-7636 or 827-7820.

The press release added that use of carts is delayed until November. 6., 2018, noting that the automated truck manufacturer, McNeilus, notified the City of a further delay in delivering the new trucks. With the late unanticipated change from McNeilus on the trucks, the cart manufacturer was unable to reschedule distribution of carts to homes.

The City of Sedalia emphasizes that carts will be delivered between Sept. 17 and Sept. 28, but their use will be delayed until Nov. 6 as city sanitation workers will continue to load garbage and recyclables by hand until the new trucks are delivered.
