Former Clerk for Moniteau County Sheriff’s Dept. Arrested on Theft Charges

The Moniteau County Sheriff's Department arrested a 30-year old Tipton woman, who is a former sheriff's office clerk, on several theft charges from the Moniteau Co Sheriff's Office.

According to a press release from the Moniteau County Sheriff's Dept., in November 2017, Jessica L. Lamble was terminated from the Moniteau Co. Sheriff's Office where she had worked as a clerk in the jail.

After Lamble's termination, an internal audit was conducted of the 'inmate commissary funds,' which Lamble had been responsible for. The press release says the audit found several discrepancies.

Further investigation revealed the funds had been entered into the system but were not deposited into the corresponding accounts belonging to the sheriff's office.

Moniteau County Sheriff, Tom Wheatley, then contacted the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control to ensure transparency in the investigation, according to the press release.

Earlier this month, the Highway Patrol conducted an interview with Lamble, who reportedly confessed to the crime. A large amount of cash and checks were found at Lamble's residence and then turned back over to the sheriff's department. The total amount of money recovered was not immediately available.

On Tuesday (Jan 16), arrest warrants were issued for Lamble, who turned herself in to authorities in Cole County, MO.

The press release indicates Lamble is charged with four counts of felony stealing and one count of tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.
