Taylor Swift is talented, beautiful, rich and powerful, and beloved by her legion of dedicated fans. All of those qualities came together to help the singer earn a top position on the latest Most Powerful Celebrities List, as published by Forbes. Appointment to the list is based on several factors besides income over the past 12 months.

The listmakers tally how often a celebrity is mentioned in print and on TV, in addition to gauging the strength of their digital and web presence. Also, the powers-that-be look at a person's marketability, their social media stronghold and the American consumer's perception of the said celebrity.

With her mega-selling 'Red' album and accompanying tour -- as well as her partnerships with Diet Coke, Keds, CoverGirl and three perfumes on her fragrance resume -- Swift's sphere of influence is wide and far, and goes beyond her musical career and recorded output. She is a woman of many talents, with increased and vast marketability.

The female-dominated 2013 list was topped by former talk show doyenne Oprah Winfrey, with Swift landing just outside of the Top 5. She's sitting pretty in the No. 6 slot.

Well-loved country superstar Toby Keith also made the list, ranked at No. 43, but more impressively, he represents the genre as the cover art for the magazine's Celebrity 100 issue. The "$500 Million Man" is paraded for having his own liquor, his endorsement deal with Ford, his restaurant chain, his sold out concerts and his vast influence, among other factors. Forbes estimates that the 'I Love This Bar' hitmaker raked in an impressive $65 million over the last 12 months -- far outpacing stars like Beyonce, who earned 'just' $53 million.

Carrie Underwood and Kenny Chesney follow Keith on the list, coming in at No. 46 and No. 47, respectively.
