Not only locally but also across the nation, this flu season is the most widespread on record since health officials began keeping track in the early 2000s.

We've seen some schools in the area shut down for the flu and it sounds like it could even get worse with the threat of more strains emerging.

Believe it or not, your work is one of the worst places to pick up and spread those germs. Here's some areas of concern and tips to help keep those germs under control at the workplace-

1. Women's have the edge over men when it comes to germs.  Women's offices have two times more germs than men's offices. Make-up cases, phones and purses have the most bacteria in women's offices.

2. If you have the ability to wash dishes at your workplace and you use sponges, microwave them frequently or put them in the dishwasher.

3.Something the guys probably don't think about too often is cleaning their wallets and cell phones as they are handled numerous times throughout the day. There's a lot of germs that can picked up and passed along on a daily basis.
