Flood Watch Issued For West Central Missouri
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for our area from midnight through Thursday evening. Several rounds of thunderstorms are expected over the region tonight and Wednesday. These storms may repeatedly impact the same areas with total two inches of rain expected across the region. Some areas may even have more than two inches of rain.
“This is expected to be a slow moving storm and may have quite a bit of rain with it as it slowly moves over the area,” said Pettis County EMA Director David Clippert. “The Storm Prediction Center has lowered the tornado threat, but it can’t be ruled out. Primary hazard is hail, and some areas could see up to golf ball size hail, along with that we could see winds approaching the 50 to 60 MPH mark.”
The thunderstorm is predicted to hit the Kansas City area between 10 p.m. and midnight and the Warrensburg/Sedalia area by midnight. Listen for weathereye updates through the day and check out the latest forecast model online.
