Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe announced today that the Fair’s second annual food drive is underway. Missouri Farmers Care is once again partnering with Ford dealerships across the state to collect food for Missourians in need and to offer discounts on Fair admission in exchange for canned goods. Now through Aug. 13, a $1 off gate admission coupon will be given for each canned food item brought into a participating Missouri Ford dealership.  The coupons will be redeemable for up to half-off the cost of Fair admission Tuesday, Aug. 14. "The event is called Missouri Farmers Care Food Drive Tuesday,” Wolfe said.  “It serves a three-fold purpose: to help alleviate hunger; to provide further education about the important role of Missouri farmers; and, to offer a discount on gate admission to the Fair.”

Canned food items will also be accepted for $1 off admission coupons from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fair’s Centennial Gate Aug. 14.  Last year the food drive generated more than 6,000 pounds of food, which was given to the Missouri Food Bank Association (MFBA).  MFBA State Director, Scott Baker, said that the collection provided thousands of meals to hungry Missourians, and the event this year will help MFBA to do the same.

On Missouri Farmers Care Food Drive Tuesday, a maximum of $4 savings is being offered on an adult gate admission ticket, $3 savings on a senior gate admission ticket and $1 savings on a child’s.  This is equivalent to half off of each ticket value.  More information is available online at mostatefair.com.
