The State Fair Community College Music Arts program invites the community to its 2014 holiday music programs at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5-6 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus.

The concert will feature the SFCC Chamber Choir, Jazz Choir and Jazz Runners jazz band performing both secular and sacred songs of the season. The ensembles will draw on all styles of music, from the Baroque to Rock, and from various world cultures.

Featured will be season favorites such as “Let It Show,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “The First Noel,” and “Silent Night.” Other less familiar selections such as British composer John Rutter’s “Candlelight Carol” and Paul Baker’s “Rest Ye Merry Samba” also will be presented.

Several surprise musical guests also will perform.

“Heralding the start of the holiday season, this concert is guaranteed to put everyone in the Christmas spirit,” said Ron Sayer, Music Arts program coordinator and instructor. “The audience will hear songs they know and love and may also discover some delightfully new music.”

The choirs are under the direction of Sayer and the Jazz Band is under the direction of Danny Brymer, adjunct instructor of music. Gwen Kappelman will accompany the choirs.

Tickets are $6 for the public and groups of 10 or more are half price.
