SEDALIA—The Prevailing Winds of Central Missouri will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the State Fair Community College Sedalia campus. This is the group’s first performance in the Sedalia area.

The concert is free and open to the public. No ticket is required.

The woodwind quintet is comprised of professional musicians and educators from the Central Missouri area. Kate Koffman Farris, Sedalia native and graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, is flutist for the ensemble. Other members include Kelley Head, French horn; Melissa Edwards, oboe; Kimberly Foley, bassoon; and Steve Litwiller, clarinet.

The group performs a varied repertoire of new and traditional wind ensemble literature, including music from Broadway, Latin, Jazz, and Pop. Works by J.S. Bach, Mozart, Percy Grainger, Paquito D’Rivera, and W.C. Handy will be featured.
