Additional Information

The historic Katy Depot will once again host the First Fridays Series beginning on March 6, 2015.  These fun and educational programs provide local audiences with a glimpse into our country’s past through guest speakers who portray historic Americans such as President Harry Truman or tell of our area’s fascinating past in programs such as the one on the Kansas City Monarchs Negro League baseball team that traveled through Sedalia.

The March 6 event will kick off at 5:30 with refreshments and the program itself will begin at 6:00 pm.  Our guest performer is no stranger to the Depot as this will be his third appearance before the First Friday crowd--Patrick Lee as Captain William Clark.  Mr. Lee has already portrayed President Thomas Jefferson and famed frontiersman Daniel Boone before an appreciative audience. Lee is a professional speaker, writer, actor and entertainer with more than twenty years’ experience.  He will portray Captain William Clark--the other half of the famed Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery.  The program is called "Conquering the Unknown" and will describe the life and times of this most American of Americans, a great leader and compassionate man who headed a journey across half a continent traveling over 4000 miles from the mouth of the Missouri River westward to the Pacific Ocean and back.

The First Friday events are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, so reservations are recommended. Call the Katy Depot at 660-826-2932 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to reserve your seat. The First Friday Series is made possible through a generous gift from Joe Fischer and is hosted by the Sedalia Heritage Foundation, which oversees the use and maintenance of the historic Katy Depot.
