As is the case every year, 2014 had its share of blockbusters, bombs, and surprises at the box office. Once again, superheroes ruled the day, with four of the year's top ten films based on comic books, while another two were based on toys. The Hunger Games again proved strong, for the second year in a row, while a reboot to the Godzilla franchise proved the lizard has "legs" as big as its city-stomping feet.

Her are the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2014 as of now, according to Box Office Mojo:

1. Guardians of the Galaxy -- $332,309,276
2. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1 -- $233,808,937
3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier -- $259,766,572
4. The LEGO Movie -- $257,760,692
5. Transformers: Age of Extinction -- $245,439,076
6. Maleficent - $241,407,328 -- $516,342,000
7. X-Men: Days of Future Past -- $233,921,534
8. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes -- $208,543,795
9. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 -- $202,853,933
10. Godzilla -- $200,676,069

I think it's pretty telling that t he only movie on that list that I saw in the movie theater was GOTG.  And the only other one I saw, PERIOD, was Captain America (saw that one on DVD).  I'm just not that hip, I guess!  I did really like Guardians of the Galaxy, though - I would probably vote that as the best movie I saw this year.   What do you think? What was the best movie you saw this year?  Tell me all about it and I'll share your answers on the air!

Guardian-ly yours,

Behka
