One of the major backbones of any county or state fair is the 4-H organization, which has its own building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds to showcase all the county winners for things like art, photography, quilting, baking, cooking and much more.

The 4-H Building Superintendent Mary Jo Williams said, “This year entries were about the same, with over 4,100 projects in the building, representing 90 counties and 2300 members of 4-H, and 300 demonstrations are done through the fair.  Young people do all kinds of specialty demonstrations, general demonstrations, and some do work as people walk by and showcase what they do.”

The building is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. through the entire Missouri State Fair.  Be sure to stop by and see what our youth are doing.  There are also several activities planned in the final days of the 2012 Missouri State Fair.

Aug 16 – 4-H in the Biz: Be the “E” (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

Aug 17 – Cookie Decorating Challenge (Must be a 4-H member and have pre-registered)

Aug 18 – Agri-Missouri Food Specialty Demonstration
