Demolition at 2nd and Ohio

Building demolition on 2nd and Ohio hit a snag this morning (May 22),  when the jackhammer attached to the huge machine assigned to bring the buildings down broke. One corner of a building had been crunched at noon as people drove by to get a closer look. The machine sat idly by,  however its large bucket touching the ground in the shadow of the buildings that had for the minute at least defeated its opponent, and made it bow down at its feet.

Future rounds of struggle will undoubtedly see the building’s luck run out, but for just awhile it could claim victory. How appropriate on the start of Memorial Day Weekend.

The demolition is expected to begin again during the weekend according to Chief Building Official Andy Burt, who also said the delay is not a problem since the landfill will not be accepting rubble until Tuesday anyway.
