"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated" is one of the most-cited quotes from the great Mark Twain, although the PBS Newshour just reported last week that he never actually said it. He said something similar, the sentiment was there, but those are not quite the exact words from Twain. In any case, the exact same thing just happened Monday in Sedalia (that might be greatly exaggerated, but it was similar).

The KSIS news department took down information from a Sedalia Police Report regarding the discovery "of a non-responsive woman in the 200 block of South Stewart on Saturday morning." The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pettis County Coroner.

KSIS mistakenly reported the identity of the body discovered as Waunita J. Karbinas. Ms. Karbinas' name was listed in that police report for having contacted police, but she was not the person found. The identity of the deceased was not released by authorities in the police report.

Ms. Karbinas contacted the KSIS newsroom this morning to inform us that she is alive and well, and is grateful to those that have called to check on her family following the inaccurate news report. Pettis County Coroner Robert "Skip" Smith also contacted our office to alert us of the mistake. We apologize for the error.

“The minute you stop making mistakes is the minute you stop learning.” Mark Twain didn't say that, either. That was Miley Cyrus.
