It's the most wonderful time of the year with Santa Claus, his reindeer, presents and decorations tastefully placed on the outside of your house.  Did some not get the memo on decorating tastefully?

Every year there's a couple of houses in the neighborhood that decide to go wacko. It's like the Decorating Monster snuck in overnight and threw up. Number one, you wonder how someone could spend that much money on the stuff, and secondly, did that "How to Impress Your Friends and Neighbors With Christmas Decorations" schematic get lost in the process?

You can drive through some neighborhoods and the houses are tastefully done. A string of lights placed around the edge of the roofs, colorful wreaths on the doors, and a "Ho-Ho-Ho" or "Let It Snow" signs strategically placed on the porches. But you can drive down some streets and it looks like someone is advertising for a holiday world premiere. They've decided to showcase every outdoor ornament that Wal-Mart, Menard's, Big Lots, and Lowe's has to offer.  The space shuttles use them for reference points.

Could we please just reel it in a little and remember the real reason for the season?
