At their work session on Monday evening, The Sedalia City Council discussed a change to the local recycling program that will take effect on June 20.

Starting next Monday, the recycling drop-off sites at Thompson Hills Shopping Center and 9th Street and Massachusetts will collect glass in one container and all other recyclable material will be lumped into another container. A new drop-off site will be installed at the Compost Site as well, on Highway U.

Ripple Glass, a Kansas City area company, has agreed to pay to transport the glass material to Kansas City, at no cost to the city of Sedalia.

Styrofoam and plastic bags will not be accepted at the drop-off sites.
