We’re about a week away from Christmas, a time when many start to pay attention to the forecast to see if a "White Christmas" is likely. The way our weather has been lately with temperatures in the 40s, 50s and 60s lately, it seems unlikely.
There have been a lot of awful or inspiring stories coming out of Hurricane Sandy. This manages to be both. A man found a note in his house scrawled by a person who had taken a blanket to keep hypothermia at bay. The author of the note was sure he was dying.
This morning, much of the East Coast is picking up the pieces after the massive storm known as Hurricane Sandy swept through, leaving millions without power, causing untold economic damage, and killing at least 21 people. Flooding caused largely by enormous, unprecedented storm surges has crippled transportation routes and wreaked havoc on low-lying areas.

With the eye of 2012's Hurricane Sandy expected to make landfall in the next 24 hours, residents along the east coast are taking measures to stay safe during, and after, what is being described as the "perfect storm." Country music's reach extends into all 50 states, so it's no surprise that many of the top names took to Twitter to encourage those in Hurricane Sandy's path to be extra cautious. A few even added some much-needed humor to the conversation surrounding Frankenstorm.
In case you missed it -- there's a storm a-brewin'! Hurricane Sandy is lurching her way up the coast, heading for us all. Yesterday, the MTA announced it was shutting down trains in NYC at 7 pm and buses at 9pm. UPDATE: After several boats made Test Session passes on Lake Lucas, rain forced the cancellation of today’s Test and Tune on Lake Lucas. The 2nd Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals will resume tomorrow as scheduled, weather permitting.
Despite recently weakening to a tropical storm, the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Isaac continue through Wednesday afternoon. The storm has dumped more than ten inches of rain across the area and left at least 725,000 homes without power.
