Kids, I am not a sporty person. I just don't have much of the competitive drive. So I don't really care who wins or loses, and therefore I find I can't root for somebody in sports. I don't know what it is, but it's just not there for me.
Now having said that, I did watch the football game this week. My ever patient boyfriend sat next to me and attempted to explain things here and there. He did his best to answer my questions ("Is that a camera robot? Why did that one guy throw a yellow thing? Why do they keep losing their helmets?"). So here's what I've gleaned from the four or so hours of time I spent watching it with him.
The Baltimore Ravens survived a late 49ers surge, a controversial non-call in the endzone and a 34-minute power outage to win Super Bowl XLVII by a score of 34-31.
Here are the goings on in our area this weekend!

A 14-year-old student at Price Middle School in Atlanta was shot in the head or neck on Thursday afternoon. The student was taken to the hospital; his condition has not been officially released, but reports say that he is alert, conscious and breathing.
One of the best parts about the Super Bowl is that everyone becomes football fans when it rolls around. It doesn't matter where you're from, whether or not you know what's going on or if you're just watching the game for the commercials (guilty)-- it's just a fun ol' time!
The Central Missouri Mules Baseball team was the preseason No. 1 pick in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Central Regional Poll released on Wednesday evening (Jan. 30).
If your excitement for Super Bowl XLVII this Sunday stems more from a love of chili than a love of football (which is tooootally fine, by the way), here are some facts for you (in handy infographic form!) about the big game and the Super Sunday game to end all games in general. Learn them and you might even score yourself a few extra wings at the party.
There is always a lot of talk whenever rivals take on each other. This weekend you can watch a lot of rivalry games and stay in the same building. The Kaysinger Conference Basketball Tournament is ready to tip off this weekend at State Fair Community College at the Fred E. Davis Center. Teams from Cole Camp, Green Ridge, Lamonte, Lincoln, Northwest (Hughesville), Sacred Heart (Sedalia), Smithton, Stover, Tipton and Windsor will battle it out for the Kaysinger Conference Championship for both the boys and girls brackets starting this Saturday.
