I don't know about you guys, but for me, Christmas means family and parties. Well, not all ragers, don't get me wrong. But getting together with some folks, eatin' some food, and tellin' tales of the old days.
Last night (Dec. 16), I really got into the holiday spirit by taking my kids to Higginsville to see the Kansas City Southern Lines Santa Train. This train has operated for 13 years and its goal is to not only bring holiday cheer to those who visit it, but they also provide funds to the local Salvation Army at each of their stops along the way. The Holiday Express as it is called has raised over $1.2 million in funds since its inception in 2000 and they look forward to each year.
The Menards in Sedalia is having a huge Dutch Auction type of sale on a lot of their Christmas Decor. But that's not all that's happening out there! I got to head out this weekend for a live broadcast, and here's a bit of what happened.
If you tried to describe the violent holiday classic ‘Home Alone’ to someone who had never seen it, they might wonder why it’s considered a “must watch” at Christmas time. Up in the sky, it's a bird! No, it's a plane! No, it's the International Space Station. The white line in the photo above is the International Space Station as it flew over Sedalia on Tuesday night (Dec. 10).
'A Sedalia Christmas' is a multimedia play written in celebration of Sedalia's holiday traditions and celebrations from 1866-1969. It was written by Sedalia native Becky Imhauser, and local actors and actresses portray Sedalians and the events that shaped their lives.
