Tomy Pocket Baseball Game
Will This Game Hold The Key to Predicitng the 2012 Major League Baseball Playoffs?

Will This Tomy Pocket Game Predict the 2012 MLB Playoffs?

The Major League Baseball Playoffs are here, and I'm sure there are many looking into the crystal ball to figure out which teams will win through the playoffs.  Logic says to compare how the teams did against each other in the regular season, or which team was hot down the stretch, or who has the best best pitchers or hitters.  These are all logical ways to predict winners, but it is baseball and anything can happen.  Just refer to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011 and you'll see logic may not have worked in predicting the winner as they defied the odds so many times.

A few months ago, I was cleaning out a box of stuff of mine.  Somehow I was able to save these gem of a game that my father gave me in 1986, called the Tomy Pocket Game for baseball.

Kids Could Do a Lot of Things Then That They Can’t Do Now

Last week, a Texas woman was arrested for allegedly letting her kids (ages six and nine) play in their cul-de-sac unattended.  I think back to my childhood and when I was around five years old, the rule was to be home when the street lights came on.  We were free to roam the neighborhood and there was an understanding that if we got out of line, someone would call our parents.  Of course, this was before we decided to attempt to bubble wrap our kids.

To Replace or Not Replace, That Is the Question…

Well kids, a lot of you have been very patient with me in my discussions of what went down about a month ago at the Mark Twain Apartments.  I've been surprised by how many people I don't know told me they read the post, and how many people tell me they understood what it was like.

Well, I'm just now getting almost to the beginning of getting ready for a new place.  I have been a little jerked around a few times in finding one, but I might get lucky this time.  If all goes as planned, I'll be in a new place of my own by the beginning of September. But now, the problem emerges:  What do you replace?

1982 St. Louis Cardinals Reuniting This Weekend at Busch Stadium

Many people may not soon forget the amazing run the St. Louis Cardinals had in 2011 on their way to the World Series, but the storied Cardinals team history runs deeper than just one season.  A magical season also occurred in 1982, where the Cardinals went 92-70 and won the National League East.  If you remember, those were the days of just two divisions in each league.  The Cardinals then went on to sweep the Atlanta Braves before they won in an epic seven game series versus the Milwaukee Brewers.

30 years later, the Brewers and Cardinals will play again as National League Central foes, and it is a fitting time to reflect on that 1982 season.  The Cardinals have announced that more than 20 1982 Cardinals players will come to the three-game series at Busch Stadium to be honored this weekend (August 3-5).

Behka Speaks about the Mark Twain Apartment Fire

I don't think a lot of you noticed, but I haven't been posting many blogs this past few days.  I'm sure our Blog Boy wants to shake his finger at me for it.  But, the reason for that I think is a good one - I've undergone a bit of a personal tragedy recently. This may not be easy to read. I know it won't be easy to write.
