Jay Nixon joined Missouri State Senator Mike Parson and other state and local officials in Sedalia today (Oct. 1) to announce $2.2 million in infrastructure improvements at the more than 100-year-old Missouri State Fairgrounds. The improvements include upgrades to the storm water management system at the fairgrounds.

Sedalia Fire Department Provides Tour of New Fire Station

Last night (Oct. 1) Sedalia Fire Chief, Mike Ditzfeld and Deputy Fire Chief Gregg Harrell took the Sedalia City Council and the media on a guided tour of the new fire station, which is now more than 50% completed. The facility sports four Hugh bays that  will house the new larger fire truck that is due to arrive in November, along with other fire engines.

Skyline PTA Bans Sweets at Class Parties, Will Provide Healthy Snacks for Kids

This week, my son received a letter addressed to parents of Skyline Elementary students stating that the Skyline Parent Teacher Association (PTA) wanted to make some changes to class parties this year. The PTA wants to conform to the new Health Wellness Program that the Sedalia School District adopted last year and have asked parents to not provide any foods like cupcakes, cookies, candy or treat bags for any class parties. The Skyline PTA will now provide every child in every class with pretzels, Cheez-Its and juice instead.
