What About the Explosion in Texas?
We have all been taken in by the coverage of the Boston Marathon Bombing, the aftermath, and the search for the suspects that ended in the death of one and the apprehension of the other. It was another example of social media and our need for "instant gratification and information" coming into play before accuracy, and admittedly, as a member of the media, it made me a little embarrassed. Instead of "getting it right," it seemed a lot of the media outlets we have come to rely on focused on "getting it first." And it wasn't correct.
Another observation that came to me over the weekend while keeping up on the latest, like many of you I'm sure, was "What about the tragedy in West, Texas?"
Three Connected to Bombing Suspect Questioned in New Bedford
The investigation into the Boston Marathon bombing seeped into New Bedford, Mass. on Friday evening with the questioning of several people who knew suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Boston Marathon Bombers: One Suspect Captured; One Dead [UPDATED]
The second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing has been captured. Dzokhar Tsarnaev was taken into police custody Friday night -- five days after the bombing that left three dead and left more than 100 injured, police said. The 19-year-old was apprehended after a manhunt that began Thursday night with the fatal shooting of an MIT officer and extended into the evening hours on Friday.

Officials Say 12 Bodies Recovered at Texas Fertilizer Blast Site
The bodies of 12 people have been recovered from the site of the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, officials said on Friday.
Major Police Operation Underway in Boston Suburb [UPDATED]
6:55 AM ET: The AP is reporting that the suspects are from Chechnya, and have lived in the US for at least one year. The surviving Boston bomb suspect has been identified as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, of Cambridge, Ma. NBC News is reporting that both suspects are brothers. Sources say that the men may have military experience, according to law enforcement officials.
6:30 AM ET: CNN is reporting that officials are worried that the suspect who remains at large could have explosives on his body. An official tells the network that the suspect killed overnight had explosives on his body. As a result, city officials have suspended all public transportation for the time being. Those in Watertown and the surrounding neighborhoods are being urged to shelter in place until further notice. Many colleges have cancelled classes for the day. Businesses are being told not to open.
FBI Releases Images, Video of Boston Marathon Bombing Suspects
Special Agent Rick DesLauriers of the FBI, who is leading the investigation of the Boston Marathon bombings, just held a press conference in which he revealed that there are two suspects. The FBI released photographs and video of two men believed to be responsible for the attacks.
Man Arrested for Sending Ricin-Laced Letters to President, Senator
Federal authorities have arrested Paul Kevin Curtis, 45, for allegedly sending letters containing the deadly poison ricin to President Obama and Senator Roger Wicker (R.-Miss.) earlier this week.
5-15 Dead, 160 Injured in Explosion at Texas Fertilizer Plant; Rescue Operations Continue
Authorities say that five to 15 people may have died in last night's massive explosion at the West Fertilizer Plant in West, Texas. Many more, perhaps more than 160, were injured.
