Stephanie Jackson Hired as Principal at Parkview Elementary School

On Monday night (April 23), the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education approved the hiring of Mrs. Stephanie Jackson, assistant principal at Smith-Cotton Junior High School, as principal at Parkview Elementary School. She succeeds Mrs. Kelly Sobaski, who last week announced her retirement, effective at the end of the current school year.

Former SFCC Head Coach Bill Barton Elected to the Region 16 Hall of Fame

According to the SFCC Athletic Department, former Men's Basketball Head Coach Bill Barton has been elected to the Region 16 Hall of Fame.  During his tenure at SFCC, Barton recorded over 600 wins as head coach.  Barton is no stranger halls of fame. He is in the SFCC Hall of Fame, The Missouri State Sports Hall of Fame and the National Junior College Hall of Fame, and in my opinion, he belongs in even more.

Relay for Life’s Bear Auction for a Beary Good Cause

Kids, a lot of different events are happening around us for the Relay For Life.  The Relay is almost a year-round event, really, because these teams work so hard to get fundraising going.  They do everything they can think of to get members, donations and awareness out there.  The actual Relay event isn't until June, but that doesn't mean teams aren't hard at work.

We here at the station have been accepting donations of bears for their yearly bear auction.  My very own sister even went through her precious stuffed bear collection and donated some to the cause.  People have decorated, dressed, and gussied up their bears so that you'll bid on them, and all the money will go to the great Relay for Life.
