The nominees for the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri’s 2013 Pink Flamingo Award have been revealed.  The Pink Flamingo Award, which has been honoring individuals in West Central Missouri for their community giving, philanthropic spirit, kindness, generosity, character and leadership for the past six years, has become a part and tradition of the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri’s annual fundraising auction, 'An Evening of Heart and Hope.'

Kids, I got the chance to head on down to the Sacred Heart Bazzar this last weekend!  I'd never been before, and now I know that was quite the mistake. I'll definitely be going down there again, and bringing people with me this time.  It was a lot of fun! They had all sorts of games and crafts and the dinner was fantastic.  They had chicken, brisket,  veggies and all the fixings.  The dessert was also amazing, although I probably shouldn't eat too much cake.  There were all sorts of nice folks there, and we all had a great time.

Kids, I had the chance to go to America's Car Mart again this weekend.  As always, I had a great time!   They were doing a big canned food drive.  They also grilled up some great food! We managed to avoid the rain for most of it, but it did come down in the last hour or so.  But that didn't hamper anyone's good spirits.  Car Mart is always looking to help others, and they were glad people were able to donate.

Walk into Moore's Greenhouse and Flower Shop this October and you'll get more than an eyeful of flowers.  You'll find yourself standing among a variety of hand-crafted, elaborately decorated underwear provided by members of the local community.  The bras aren't just for show; these glittered garments are entries in Moore's annual "Bra Contest" and help raise money for 2013 Relay for Life of Pettis County and will help fund cancer research.

Kids, this past weekend I got to go to a rare Sunday live broadcast.  It was in the parking lot of Big Lots, and it was for the Pettis County Community Partnership.  They were accepting donations for their storage sheds. Apparently they had two whole sheds that they needed to fill with household goods and such to give to the needy of Pettis County.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and a pink spotlight is shining on this cause by multiple arms of the entertainment industry. Country quartet Lonestar are doing their part to raise funds and awareness. The band are helping to corral $50,000 for benefit breast cancer research by doing what they do best -- perform.
