Kids, this weekend has some events coming up that will be close to your heart!
Kids, this weekend has some events coming up that will be close to your heart!
Here are the goings on in our area this weekend!
Kids, you and I both know you're busy. You're bound to let some things slip through the cracks of your schedule. And you also know there's apparently a big footyball game Sunday.
So with all your regular malarkey, you probably don't have time to make a bunch of sweet snacks for the family, friends and moochers coming to your house. Why not get some goodies for a great cause and save yourself some trouble while you're at it?
Kids, here's a look at some of the happenings going on this weekend!
I’ve had the pleasure of working with many civic clubs in Sedalia, whether it be Pettis County Rotary, Sedalia Rotary, Sunrise Optimists, Noonday Optimists, Lions Club, Sedalia ELKS, Sedalia Kiwanis, the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, VFW, 40 & 8, American Legion and many others.
While we get the chance to cover their activities, it is not often they all have an appreciation day. This Saturday (Jan. 26), State Fair Community College will have Civic Club Night, where members of the various civic clubs get in free for the basketball games when the State Fair Community College Roadrunners have a double-header. Civic club members may pick up free admission passes at their club meetings.
Family Pawn of Sedalia was once again kind enough to donate a guitar for me to take to Memphis on my trip to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Lots of country stars were kind enough to sign the guitar for us. We will auction the guitar to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at the 'Thom Shepherd & Friends' show at Dukes & Boots on Jan. 30.
I've been a big supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital over the years. A lot of people in this area have joined me in helping fulfill Danny Thomas' dream that no child should die in the dawn of life. Click here to become a Partner in Hope with St. Jude. Watch the video to see some of the celebrities that are involved.
I recently took my 7th trip to Memphis to tour St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Each time I go, I learn something new about this amazing place, as well as re-energize myself to raise funds for them. It takes $1.8 million a day to run St. Jude, and a majority of that cost is received through donations.
In remembrance of William Blaine Whitworth, who was killed in a shooting last September in Warrensburg, the Go Big or Go Home fund will host a 5K run on Saturday, April 6 at 8:30 a.m., beginning at 115 N. Holden St. in Warrensburg.
