With the final 'Hobbit' film hitting theaters later this year, Warner Bros. is looking for their next big fantasy franchise to fill the void. And since 'Game of Thrones' has made dragons so popular (but is already taken by HBO), the studio is eyeing classic novel series 'The Dragonriders of Pern' by Anne McCaffrey. Are dragons the new wizards?
Comic-Con 2014 marked the first time 'Ant-Man' star Paul Rudd attended the epic geek extravaganza, and he was pretty darn stoked about the whole experience, considering he's also joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following the big Marvel panel, the actor faced the press to talk about his experience becoming the size-shrinking superhero, when he goes into production, and the one thing his friends will never let him live down.
Locals from Miranda Lambert's hometown of Lindale, Texas will now have a whole new section of books to peruse. The Lindale Public Library has announced that an area of the facility will be dedicated to the singer, and the topic of all these books couldn't be more appropriate.
Tucked away, up a daunting, unwelcoming flight of outdoor stairs, far, far from the madness of Hall H panels and the other madness of the San Diego Comic-Con floor is vestibule of once or still famous human beings signing autographs for the attendee’s pleasure. (At least, the attendees who ever make it upstairs.) Anyway, I kept a running diary of aimlessly walking around Comic-Con for a few hours. Here’s how that went:
Fans of Marvel's favorite sorcerer/doctor 'Doctor Strange' series have been eagerly anticipating a big screen take on the classic character for entire years, but now that film is officially set to slip into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's time the studio started getting down to business and thinking about how to fold magic into their muscle-heavy franchise. Where and how is the magic man going to fit into the lineup? And how exactly is his story going to be told in a way that still works with all the other balls Marvel has up in the air?
Awhile ago, Mark Ruffalo let slip that the cast of 'Age of Ultron' would be making their way to Comic-Con 2014's Hall H for an 'Avengers 2' panel, and they did not disappoint.
If it's Saturday at Comic-Con, it's time for the big guns to come out, and Warner Bros. has done that with some serious style. The studio's panel opened with a big, bruising look at 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,' thanks to a new trailer (and more on that to come -- much more!), before director Zack Snyder trotted out stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Gadot to greet their fans.
Family trees in the Marvel universe -- cinematic or purely comic book -- tend to be a little twisted. When it comes to James Gunn's upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' that's definitely still the case, thanks to a pair of adopted sisters that look poised to spend the film's runtime slowly moving away from each other and towards opposite ends of the personality spectrum, with plenty of hand-to-hand combat to keep things strange.
Just a couple of days ago Marvel claimed dates for five untitled films between 2017 and 2019, but they're not done yet. On the eve of Comic-Con 2014, Marvel has announced yet another release date for yet another untitled mystery movie -- but we have a feeling we'll be hearing a lot more about these untitled projects this week.
