Today (Sept. 19) is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. If you listened to me on Roll Out of Bed with Rob this morning, you heard me talk like a pirate for the entire morning. The Boonslick Regional Library in Sedalia is working hard to help people keep reading. For a lot of kids out there, books themselves can be kind of passe, especially since so many of them have smartphones, computers, and tablets.  So Boonslick, wanting to keep the kids reading, has embraced this new technology.

So this video just hit the internet (well, it's really just audio with subtitles) of a man leaving a voice message as he witnesses a car accident in front of him. He proceeds to describe in great detail how four old women get out of the car and beat down this guy who caused the accident. It's pretty funny how the guy describes the scene while cracking up the whole time.

One Saturday Sept.14, the Sedalia Kiwanis Club will sponsor a child seat safety event. When I was a kid, I remember standing up in the front seat of the car and explaining to my mom that I couldn't sit down, because I was from Mars.  Aliens don't need seat belts, you see.  She, um, did not take that lightly.

The Sedalia Park Board met in its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Thursday night (Sept. 5). One of the items brought to the floor and approved by the board gives Sedalia Parks and Recreations Director Mark Hewett the authority to seek bids for a construction manager and architect for Sedalia's new community center project.
